T.C. KÜTAHYA DUMLUPINAR ÜNİVERSİTESİ
Our university participated in the Moroccan Turkish Universities Education Fair held in Casablanca and Rabat, Morocco, making a significant contribution to international promotion and cooperation activities. Our university stand received great interest from Moroccan students at the fairs held in both cities. The fair program was also attended by Mr. Mahmut M. ÖZDİL, President of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, and Mr. İlker KILIÇ, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Morocco. Representing our university were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derya DELİKTAŞ, Director of the International Relations and International Student Coordination Application and Research Center, and Dr. Figen KARAFERYE, our University's Quality Coordinator. In the organization, which saw the participation of a total of 25 universities from Turkey, including foundation and state universities, our university stand received great interest in both cities. During the fair, our university provided comprehensive information about its academic programs, educational structure, application requirements, living and accommodation options, social facilities, and international student profile. The strong interest shown by Moroccan students in Turkish universities and Turkish culture once again demonstrated the strengthening and continuing of academic cooperation between Turkey and Morocco. Participation in these fairs held in Casablanca and Rabat represents a strategic step in line with our university's internationalization policy; it is expected to offer significant gains in terms of increasing our university's global visibility, developing new academic collaborations, and contributing to international student mobility.
According to the University Monitoring and General Evaluation Report 2024 data, Kütahya Dumlupınar University, with a 16.43% international student ratio, is among the leading universities in Turkey in this field. When evaluated within the context of state universities, this ratio is a significant indicator of the university's level of internationalization. This success demonstrates that the university's recent efforts to attract international students have yielded concrete results. Its ability to benefit from global student mobility despite its regional location indicates improvements in the accessibility of academic programs, promotional activities, and institutional support for foreign students. Although the ratio is relatively low compared to private universities, an international student ratio above 16% can be considered a significant threshold for sustainable internationalization. In this context, strengthening the university's international partnerships and supporting a multicultural academic structure will increase its international visibility in the long term. A meeting was held between the Directorate of the International Relations and International Student Coordination Application and Research Center and the Kütahya Provincial Directorate of Migration Management to evaluate processes related to international students. The meeting addressed the residence permit applications and document collection processes for international students, as well as general problems faced by students. In this context, ideas were exchanged on how these problems could be resolved within the framework of the protocol signed between the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the General Directorate of Migration Management. The meeting also identified areas of joint work to increase information activities for students, facilitate application processes, strengthen inter-institutional coordination, and address shortcomings encountered in practice. At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to continue cooperation to support the educational processes of international students and minimize the problems they face. We thank all stakeholders who contributed to the meeting.
